Characteristic comparison of cornstarch-based bioplastics using kaolin, microcrystalline cellulose and chitosan as fillers

نویسندگان

چکیده

In the study, basic material for making bioplastics was corn starch with addition of kaolin, microcrystalline cellulose, and chitosan as filler variations, well glycerol a plasticizer. The method used blending method. characterization included absorption test water resistance, biodegradation test, tensile elongation strength functional group analysis using FTIR. Among fillers, best bioplastic characteristic obtained kaolin value 88.62%, 1.44 x10-3 MPa, 5.04%. Nearly 80% degraded in 15 days. Spectra FTIR showed appearance some groups from starch, filler, plasticizer, which meant that process manufacturing physical mixing.

Evaluation of Chitosan-Microcrystalline Cellulose Blends as Direct Compression Excipients

This study was aimed at evaluating chitosan-microcrystalline cellulose blends as direct compression excipients. Crab shell chitosan, α-lactose monohydrate, and microcrystalline cellulose powders were characterized. Blends of the microcrystalline cellulose and chitosan in ratios 9 : 1, 4 : 1, 2 : 1, and 1 : 1 as direct compression excipients were made to constitute 60% of metronidazole tablets. ...

Biodegradation Study of Microcrystalline Chitosan and Microcrystalline Chitosan/β-TCP Complex Composites

Bone repair or regeneration is a common and complicated clinical problem in orthopedic surgery. The importance of natural polymers, such as microcrystalline chitosan, and minerals such as HAp and β-TCP, has grown significantly over the last two decades due to their renewable and biodegradable source, increasing the knowledge and functionality of composites in technological and biomedical applic...

Enzymatic hydrolysis of microcrystalline cellulose and pretreated wheat straw: a detailed comparison using convenient kinetic analysis.

Marked slow-down of soluble sugar production at low degree of substrate conversion limits the space-time yield of enzymatic hydrolysis of ligno-cellulosic materials. A simple set of kinetic descriptors was developed to compare reducing sugar release from pure crystalline cellulose (Avicel) and pretreated wheat straw by Trichoderma reesei cellulase at 50 °C. The focus was on the rate-retarding e...

Comparison of Dissolution Properties of Piroxicam Using Microcrystalline Cellulose and a New Excipient (LoxOralTM)

Introduction: During the last decade, the trend in drug discovery has increased the number of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) that exhibit high lipophilicity and poor water solubility, also associated with poor dissolution characteristics (Vogt et al., 2008). Dissolution rate in the gastrointestinal tract is the rate limiting factor for the absorption of many of these drugs, which ther...
